Every stuck lifter reaches for the same recipe: more. A fifth day, a sixth exercise, four extra sets. If that worked, anyone camping in the gym four hours a day would be Mr. Olympia by now. The truth nobody enjoys hearing: past a certain point, the extra set does not add stimulus. It adds recovery debt.
Your body does not count sets. It measures tension. Ten lazy sets weigh less on the scale than five sets performed with murderous intent — and that difference is what separates the man who progresses from the man who is merely tired.
The irony is that template programs love high volume for one simple reason: it looks like a lot on paper, and it makes you feel you got something for your money. But your body is not graded on paper. The right work is someone who knows your recovery, your schedule and your bloods, prescribing the amount you can actually use — and adjusting it every week. That is what I do. Message me when you are ready to work properly.
